Solid Rock Radio Marks 18 Years as a Mainstay in the Christian Rock Streaming Sphere

Solid Rock Radio continues to be a source of heavy music hope online, spinning faith-based hard rock since 2006. Founded by William Lee Moore, the online Christian rock music station also hosts conversations, news and connection on their website (solidrockradio.org) and Facebook page. Solid Rock plays several industry-leading rock radio shows, including their popular Monday night segment Backstage With Mothership.

“Solid Rock Radio was created with a vision to play Christian rock, as at the time there were not a lot of internet stations that played that genre of music,” Moore explains. “The site was created with a purpose: the music, message and programing played all help listeners build their house on the Solid Rock of Jesus Christ.”

That mission has been 100% listener-supported throughout the station’s impressive 18 years of operation. The fledgling station has grown through the support of technological advancements and volunteer DJs and writers. As the rock music industry has endured the pains of a structure in a state of rapid change, Solid Rock Radio has soldiered on, reborn even when Moore wondered if the obstacles would be insurmountable. In 2019, Solid Rock received 501c3 status, meaning that all contributions are tax-deductible. Shortly thereafter, the station onboarded Backstage With Mothership — a weekly show hosted by Cindy “Mothership” Blankenship that has hosted both industry heavyweights and rising stars. The segment has become a fixture of the faith-based rock world.

Solid Rock’s contributions to the scene have been recognized through nominations in The Grizzly Awards (2023) and The Spin Awards (2024).

But the fuel to continue in that work has never been accolades. The small but passionate Solid Rock team is motivated by the listeners, and the support of mission-minded donors.

“Knowing that the music we play, the programming we air, can reach the hurting and the lost? That is what keeps me motivated,” Moore explains.
