Alex Henry Foster Shares Powerful Live Performance of ‘City on Fire’

ALEX HENRY FOSTER SHARES POWERFUL LIVE PERFORMANCE OF CITY ON FIRE FROM ITALYS 2DAYS PROG + 1 FESTIVAL

MONTREAL, DECEMBER 2025 – Following the final stretch of The High Blooming Ritual tour — which featured sold-out shows and received praise from numerous European media outlets — Alex Henry Foster released last week a live music video for City on Fire, recorded at Italy’s 2Days Prog + 1 Festival. The release has already received notable support from outlets such as Prog Magazine, V13, Visions Magazin, and several others. The song will be available on digital streaming platforms on December 5, with limited vinyl copies arriving on December 12.

Foster’s last musical offering before the end of the year is a powerful and immersive piece that blends progressive and hard-rock urgency with gothic-folk moments and vast post-rock soundscapes. Disturbing, saturated guitar textures collide with soft, intimate vocal lines, creating a tension that feels both cathartic and deeply human.

He mentioned: “City on Fire is a song that has been vibrating within me for quite some time already. It came and went in my life when I least expected it, but I guess it became much more significant for me as I’ve been horrified by the new measure of atrocities human nature is inflicting on the world. I understood that beyond the fire raging within us and the subsequent cynicism we now have to deal with lies the notion of trying to find some inner peace through it all, to transcend the fear we have to lose ourselves in our own flaming disillusions.”

Alex explained why he keeps speaking about the power of community at every stop on tour: “The power of community that I witness from one concert to another, its supportive nature, its ability to break anyone’s loneliness, its power to heal… And I concluded that, while I have the privilege to share about it everywhere I stop”

While on Substack, he has been sharing how meaningful it is for him to revisit some of the songs he used to play with Your Favorite Enemies: “I had to make peace with my past and reclaim the most significant elements that contributed to making my journey what it is today, which for me is mainly my music, my words, my projects… To revisit my tenure with Your Favorite Enemies was essential in that sense, especially as it represents 12 years of my life, and 2026 will mark the 20th anniversary of the band’s inception… It’s crazy just to think about it.”

In just one year, Foster has multiplied achievements: sold-out venues, strong presence in ADISQ rankings, and the release of a new live album, A Nightfall Ritual, which entered the Billboard charts upon its release in April 2025 before being named Post-Rock Album of the Year at GAMIQ.

City on Fire will be available on streaming services on December 5, and exclusive vinyl copies will be released on December 12.
