‘American Idol’ Winner Jamal Roberts Tops Gospel Song Charts – TCB – Jamal Roberts

The winner of the 2025 American Idol season, Jamal Roberts, has just debuted in the top position across two Billboard Gospel Song charts: Hot Gospel Songs and Gospel Digital Song Sales.

The chart-topping song, “Heal”, covers the 2013 Tom Odell song of the same name. The song was his winning performance on Season 23 of American Idol. Released commercially on May 18, the song quickly sold 9,000 copies in the US within its first four days of release, according to Luminate—launching the song to top both the Hot Gospel Songs and Gospel Digital Song Sales within its first charting week. Concurrently, on the Gospel Streaming Songs, “Heal” hits No. 7.

And Jamal Roberts’ success isn’t solely exclusive to the Gospel Music scene. On the Digital Song Sales—across all US charts—the song ranked at No. 2. The peak marks the highest Digital Song Sales debut of the year for any Christian/Gospel song, and the highest since November 2024’s chart topping “Hard Fought Hallelujah” by Brandon Lake.

Jamal Roberts is joined on the Digital Song Sales by two other American Idol finalists: Breanna Nix with “Higher” (No. 4 with 5,000 copies sold) and John Foster with “Tell That Angel I Love Her” (No. 6 with 4,000 copies sold). The former has also charted on Billboard Christian Charts, topping the Christian Digital Song Sales and hitting No. 40 on the Hot Christian Songs.
