Today, multi-platinum-selling GRAMMY Award-Nominee, Cory Asbury has released the latest track from his highly-anticipated fifth studio album, Pioneer. The incredibly personal and introspective song, “My Inheritance,” speaks to Asbury’s relationship with his father and ruminates on whether he is predestined to follow in his footsteps, for better or worse. Listen to “My Inheritance” here.
“Sometimes you have to work to write a song, and sometimes the song writes you,” shares Asbury, “Penned as a reminder that our true inheritance doesn’t come in the form of earthly things, “My Inheritance” shows us that it doesn’t always look the way we thought it would, but God has a way of taking the messes of our lives and turning them into the most beautiful art.”
On September 27, Asbury will perform a very special record release show at City National Grove of Anaheim. Following that performance, Asbury will embark on the Texas Takeover Tour with special guest Brennley Brown. The nine-city headline tour will kick off in Houston on November 2 and make its way across Texas before wrapping in Kilgore on November 12. Tickets for Asbury’s record release show and the Texas Takeover Tour are now on sale here.
On September 15, Asbury will release his long-awaited and highly anticipated fifth studio album, Pioneer, via BEC Recordings. Drawing influence from Nashville’s music scene, Pioneer explores a new side of Asbury while maintaining honest and cutting lyrics that speak to the fragility of the human experience. For this record, Asbury co-wrote with a veritable who’s-who in Nashville, including Lori McKenna (Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift), Shane Stevens (Lady A, Walker Hayes), Tom Douglas (Kane Brown, Miranda Lambert), and Paul Mabury (Lauren Daigle, Chris Tomlin) to create a body of work that showcases his heart as an artist. Pre-order Pioneer on CD, Vinyl, or digital platforms here.
