Fine China has been crafting shimmering, emotionally resonant pop music since their formation in Phoenix, AZ, in the late ’90s. In stark contrast to the world of low-effort slacker indie rock, Fine China quickly set themselves apart with a distinct, lush blend of melancholy and melody—equal parts new wave polish and indie-pop heart.

Their early releases on Tooth & Nail Records, including When the World Sings (2000) and You Make Me Hate Music (2001), earned them a dedicated following drawn to their lush arrangements, shimmering guitars, and nostalgic, danceable energy. After a hiatus, the band returned in full force with Not Thrilled (2018) on Velvet Blue Music, sounding more nimble than ever, and hit the road with fellow dream poppers The Ocean Blue.

Now, in 2025, Fine China is back with I Felt Called, their latest full-length, set for release in March via Velvet Blue Music. The album sees the band refining their signature sound while pushing into fresh, unexpected territory. Lead singles “Gonna Need a Vacation” and “Fraught with Danger” showcase their ability to balance irony and sincerity, crafting infectious pop songs that feel both classic and modern.

More than two decades in, Fine China remains as vital as ever—a band that never chases trends but continues to perfect their own unmistakable style. With I Felt Called, they reaffirm their place in the pantheon of cult-favorite indie bands, proving that some sounds never go out of fashion—they just get better with time.
