This week on social media, Billboard announced that rising Christian artist Josiah Queen has entered the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time with his hit song “Dusty Bibles.” The song debuted this week at #92 and marks a growing increase in Christian music being consumed by listeners. Alongside Josiah, Phil Wickham’s current radio hit “What An Awesome God” has fallen to #98 after being on the chart for 3 weeks.
The Billboard Hot 100 chart is a weekly chart that measures the top 100 songs in the USA by combining physical sales, digital sales, radio airplay, and online streaming. It is considered the most respected and prominent chart with a listing of the top albums and songs overall. Recently, Billboard itself called attention to the rise of Christian music when both Forrest Frank and Brandon Lake appeared on the chart earlier this summer with their smash hit songs “Your Way’s Better” and “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”
Josiah had had a breakout year once again with his second album, Mt. Zion. The album follows his previous hit song and album, The Prodigal, which propelled Josiah to the second most popular artist in Christian music right now in between Forrest Frank and Brandon Lake. Josiah recently released a new version of his song “Dusty Bibles” featuring hit mainstream singer/songwriter Avery Anna just last month, as the song continues to go viral and reach fans.
