Nelson At The Helm Invites Listeners to Hope-Filled Homecoming with New Single

Nelson At The Helm returns with their newest single, “Make It Home,” out now from NRT Music. The husband-and-wife folk-pop duo weaves a raw, poetic narrative of pain, perseverance, and promise into this tender indie-folk anthem, capturing both the heartbreak and hope of a world on edge.

Written by Rachelle and Jared Nelson, “Make It Home” blends vintage western textures with the intimacy of a lullaby. The result is a rich, cinematic soundscape that soothes even as it stirs longing. The lyrics paint scenes of unraveling headlines and internal battles–but always tethered to a resilient hope that one day, redemption will write the final verse.

They try to say the world is getting better, but I still have my doubts,” Rachelle sings, her voice resting gently atop Jared’s textured instrumentation. The refrain is both wistful and rooted in anticipation: “When we finally make it home, flowers will be growing there.”

“Make It Home” was born out of a difficult season–too much bad news and real-life burdens weighing heavily. But rather than despair, the duo channeled their sorrow into a musical invitation: a reminder that even now, a better day is breaking.

Nelson At The Helm is more than a band–it’s a partnership forged in marriage, creativity, and a shared hunger to bring beauty to broken places. Since 2012, Jared and Rachelle have been writing songs about love, theology, philosophy, and the fragile moments that make life feel both weighty and wonderful. Their music speaks to anyone who knows the ache of waiting, the pull of eternity, and the stubborn glow of hope that refuses to die.

“Make It Home” is now available on all digital platforms.
