Christian rock band will release Target and the Arrow this fall, marking its first studio album since 2006.
Minneapolis, Minnesota, Christian rock group PFR, also known as Pray For Rain, plans to release a new album called Target and the Arrow this fall, their first new album in 20 years.
The group launched a GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign intending to raise $60,000. At press time, donations were paused for an unknown reason, and $18,800 had been raised.
“This is more than just a musical project — it’s a celebration of brotherhood, shared lives, and the magic that happens when we create music together,” Patrick Andrew, bass guitarist and vocalist of PFR, said.
PFR is reuniting with their long-time producer, Jimmie Lee Sloas, to record a “full album that captures the heart and soul of PFR. This project is more than just music; it’s about finding our way back to ourselves and each other. We can’t wait to share all of it with you,” Andrew said. PFR also consists of Joel Hansen on guitar and vocals and Mark Nash on the drums.
The group successfully received a Grammy nomination and a Dove Award after releasing four studio albums and going through several years of touring, quitting in 1996 and then later reuniting periodically between 2001 and 2013.
In 2022, “We realized how much we missed our friendship, and found our way back to one another. It was beautiful and redeeming. What we thought we had lost was all still there. Within months we decided to play a few shows, primarily so we could be in the same place together. At those shows, your response was nothing short of inspiring. Your warmth, enthusiasm, and support helped us realize how much we missed making music together, and how much you missed us too,” Andrew said.
PFR stands for Praying for Rain and is chosen to reflect the band’s lyrical themes, which include prayers and images of cleansing, very much like asking for rain to wash away sin or bring new life. PFR had a debut album, “Pray for Rain,” in 1992.
