Phil Wickham Debuts At Number 2 on Top Christian Albums Chart – TCB – Phil Wickham

Platinum-certified, Dove winning Contemporary worship artist Phil Wickham debuts at number 2 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart in the US with his tenth studio album, Song of the Saints.

Song of the Saints sees Phil Wickham’s biggest album chart debut in the US since The Ascension (2013) and his second overall, seeing an entry of number 42 into the overall Billboard 200—supported by entries of number 10 on the Top Album Sales and number 9 on the Top Current Album Sales.  The album is additionally the third biggest Christian album debut of the year, following Brandon Lake’s King of Hearts and Forrest Frank’s Child of God II.

Phil Wickham’s success is not exclusive to the US, and in the UK he sees the album as his biggest career chart debut.  The album launches atop the Official Charts Company’s (OCC) Official Album Downloads chart at number 19, and on the Official Christian & Gospel Albums chart at number 2—the second highest Christian album debut of the year in the UK, following Brandon Lake’s King of Hearts, which lead the chart in June.

Song of the Saints is credited by CCM Magazine as Phil Wickham’s biggest album yet, which is thanks to four hit singles which released earlier this year: “The King Is in the Room”, “Homesick For Heaven”, “So So Good”, and most prominently, “What an Awesome God”.  The last of which, a reimagination of Rich Mullins’ 1988 “Awesome God”, has became Phil Wickham’s most significantly charting song in his twenty years as a signed musician, currently peaking at number 2 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100, number 3 on the Hot Christian Songs, and leading the Christian Airplay and Christian Adult Contemporary charts.  In the UK, the song charted at number 80 on the OCC Official Single Downloads at its debut in April.

In addition to “What an Awesome God”, the album features the top-10 Christian Airplay hit, “The King Is in the Room”, which hit number 15 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart.  “Homesick for Heaven” debuted in the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart at number 12, and hit number 14 on the Hot Christian Songs.  The final single from the album, “So So Good”, saw a debut at number 8 on the Hot Christian Songs.

With the release of Song of the Saints, two more album tracks have entered the charts, “Able” at number 36 on the Hot Christian Songs, and “Running to a Runaway” at number 45.
