“Social media has taught me that, a lot of times, empathy is a competition,” says vocalist Mitchell Layton. “People want to be seen as the most loving, accepting person in the room, but it’s not for the right reasons. It’s all talk.”
“When push comes to shove,” continues Layton, “there’s no real love there. It’s just social currency. As soon as someone disagrees, you’ll get shunned. They’ll eat their own.”
